Ernest will share his approach to making pottery influenced by architecture and landscape. Using the potter’s wheel as a starting point, he will share techniques for altering the thrown form, including paddling, faceting, and cutting. Demonstrations will introduce cups, plates, baskets, and throwing larger vessels. Students will be introduced to finishing ideas such as slip application and glazing for a cone 9 electric kiln firing. He will discuss insights about his studio practice, researching ideas, and combining utilitarian and sculptural concepts.

Adult classes must meet a minimum number of students 45 days ahead of the class start date (May 10, 2024). Once a class has reached minimum enrollment, registration will remain open 1 – 2 weeks before the class start date.
