As part of the Art Colony’s 2024 theme of Art + Embodiment, we have partnered with Cook County Care Partners to look at the Art of Health under the topic of Memory Care.
This session is open to anyone who finds themselves in a caregiving role, whether that be a direct role or you have aging relatives or friends near or far who you care for. We invite you to take time to honor your role as a caregiver. Participants will share lunch together followed by an art activity using mixed media and various art materials to create their own fabric heart, incorporating personal and symbolic touches. Erin will also guide the group with prompts to explore individual needs for personal support, reprieve and respite from the daily ongoing demands of caregiving. As an option, participants are invited to bring personal fabrics and materials such as beads, baubles, charms, ribbons, and ephemera to add onto their piece. Options for hand sewing will also be available for this activity but not required. All materials provided and no experience required.
This session is hosted in partnership with Cook County Care Partners and their Memory Cafe program. It is part of a grant project called: The Art of Health: Memory Care. Grant funds generously provided by the North Shore Health Care Foundation. See the other two free workshops that Erin will facilitate in connection with this grant funding.
This session is free but advanced registration is required. Lunch is included and details will be forthcoming.
